MARCH-ing into Spring! 🌷

Let’s admit it, we are all thinking it – Winter has felt too long! The “look at the sunshine!” vibes deplete into a “not another snowstorm…,” reality. However, slowly but surely, Spring is about to make a much needed appearance.

March carries a feeling of gentle momentum. The light stretches a little longer each evening, the air feels softer, and there is a quiet sense that something new is beginning. This is the season where growth happens in steady, meaningful ways – through connection, learning, and shared experiences.

Here at LUSO, March will be filled with opportunities to come together. Keep reading – fun, engaging, and welcoming activities await!

Literacy and Youth

Our Literacy and Youth programming aims to inspire confidence and curiosity. Learning is not just about books or lessons – it’s about empowerment. It’s about helping young people discover their strengths, build skills, and feel supported as they grow. Watching that confidence blossom is one of the most rewarding parts of this season.

Some of our Literacy programs include Shared Beginnings, Kindercooks and Kitchen Kids, as well as other exciting one-off workshops.

For more information on Literacy programming (ages 0-12), contact our Literacy Coordinator, Savannah, at 226-376-6642 or email savannah.lomack [at] lusocentre.org (savannah[dot]lomack[at]lusocentre[dot]org).

For our Youth programming, youth in the community can expect programs such as Y.O.L.O (Youth Organizing Leadership Opportunities), Youth Hangout, Coffee House, and other one-off workshops as well!

For more information on Youth programming (ages 12+), contact our Youth Worker, Skyllar, at 226-678-9656 or email skyllar.pavia [at] lusocentre.org (skyllar[dot]pavia[at]lusocentre[dot]org)

Community Connections:

Our Community Connections programming for newcomers of Permanent Resident and/or Protected Person status continues to create welcoming spaces where friendships form, conversations flow, and the community around you embraces you with open arms. Whether it’s gathering for discussion, shared activities, or simply spending time in good company, these moments remind us that community is something we build side by side.

Programs include adult conversation circles, health and wellbeing workshops, job readiness workshops, as well as, you guessed it – one-off events and field trips!

If you are of Permanent Resident or Protected Person status, we would love to have you join in on our Community Connections programming! For more information on monthly programs, contact our Community Connections Facilitator, Hana, at 226-235-4900 or email hana.habtegabir [at] lusocentre.org (hana[dot]habtegabir[at]lusocentre[dot]org).

Keep Exploring - There is something for everyone!

Alongside these programs, our workshops offer practical tools and meaningful dialogue for individuals and families alike, ranging from our Conversation Circles to practice your English skills in a welcoming, non-judgemental environment, to workshops that will teach you imperative life skills in an easy-to-follow format!

From skill-building sessions to informative presentations, these gatherings create space for growth at every stage of life.

For more information on these programs and workshops, please contact us at info [at] lusocentre.org (info[at]lusocentre[dot]org).

Let’s Officially March into Spring!

As we prepare to welcome Spring, we’re reminded that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in conversations. In shared laughter. In learning something new. In showing up.

However you choose to spend this month — joining a program, attending a workshop, or simply reaching out to someone you care about — know that every step forward matters.

Wishing you a March filled with warmth, connection, and continued growth 💓
