On September 24, LUSO Community Services hosted our 2025–2026 Annual General Meeting, bringing together program participants, community members, supporters, staff, and board of directors to reflect on a remarkable year of growth and impact.
The gathering offered a meaningful look back at the accomplishments and shared stories that defined our work over the 2025–2026 operating year, from youth leadership and literacy programs to newcomer settlement services and neighbourhood support.
A centrepiece of the event was recognizing exceptional individuals and local organizations whose dedication enriches our community.
We were honoured to present two annual awards:
Gabi Schotter Red Cardinal Award: Presented to Jasmine Chavaco. This award recognizes a young person between the ages of 14 and 24 who has demonstrated positive community action while overcoming personal obstacles. Jasmine’s perseverance and initiative serve as a powerful inspiration to peers and staff alike.
Community Services Award: Presented to Orion Basketball in recognition of their outstanding partnership, commitment to youth engagement, and dedication to accessible community recreation.
Attendees also heard directly from program participants, who shared personal testimonials about their journeys and the positive impact LUSO’s programs have had on their families. These firsthand experiences serve as a powerful reminder of why community-based support matters.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the evening and to all who supported LUSO throughout 2025–2026. As we step into the year ahead, we look forward to continuing to build inclusive, supportive, and connected communities across London.
