The Employment Support Program-"Career Connections" assists Ontario Works recipients to enhance their employability, with an emphasis on assisting immigrants, refugees or foreign trained professionals. The program provides support with job search techniques, resume writing, document assessment, translation, workplace culture, english for work, labour market etc., The program includes six different modules. Individuals may participate in all modules or only a specific few. Modules include: 1. New Beginnings Workshop: assessment of foreign credentials and documents, creation of individualized employment action plan 2. Career Exploration and Career Goals: identification of transferable skills, information about retraining, career mapping 3. English for Work: focus on specific workplace or labour market language, professional language for a job interview and one-on-one and group interview practice 4. Canadian Workplace Culture: introduces expectations, customs and requirements of Canadian workplace, discuss appropriate dress, policies and procedures,attitudes and behaviours. 5. Intensive Job Search Workshop: Provides specific information on how to conduct an effective job search, including internet navigation. Provides information on resumes, cover letters, interviews, networking, hidden job market etc., 6.
